These resources are part of the Combatting Misinformation Education Resources, created in collaboration with Boundless Earth.

This HASS unit for Years 5 & 6, The History, Geography and Momentum of Clean Energy in Australia, has been designed to

  • explore historical shifts in energy sources, enabling students to understand how these transitions have shaped society and the environment over time
  • analyse geographic factors influencing Australia’s energy production, helping students predict future changes in the nation’s energy landscape
  • develop critical thinking skills, equipping students to assess the credibility of information related to renewable energy
  • highlight the importance of accurate information and community involvement, encouraging students to reflect on their role in promoting informed community decision-making
  • foster respectful debate and democratic participation, giving students the tools to navigate complex discussions and represent diverse stakeholder perspectives effectively.

Through collaborative research, timeline creation, role-play and debate, students will build the knowledge and skills necessary to participate confidently in balanced and informed conversations about Australia’s clean energy future.
