This Year 3-4 Science and English unit gets students ready to dive into the world of biodiversity! In this exciting unit, students will uncover how our local ecosystems thrive, and what happens when they’re in danger. Through hands-on exploration, they’ll identify the food chains that sustain their community and discover the threats that can disrupt them.

From understanding the causes of environmental disruption to learning how conservation groups are tackling these challenges, students will explore real-world efforts to protect biodiversity. Along the way, they'll develop critical skills in analysing how biodiversity is communicated by looking at both positive and negative messages in texts and media. Students will become eco-ambassadors, using their newfound knowledge to create informative media pieces that present solutions for local biodiversity threats.

Students will gain a solid understanding of how ecosystems work, learn to assess the impact of human actions on biodiversity, and feel empowered to communicate their ideas on how to protect local wildlife and habitats.
